Conditional milestones are perfect for organizations with a more complex workflow and multiple requirements! Organizations can customize requirements by activity, volunteer, or even track non-hourly requirements!
Activity-Specific Milestones
This is perfect for organizations that have different requirements based on the type of volunteer activity.
Example: Must complete 15 hours of in school activities and 15 hours of out of school activities
Set Up
To create an activity-specific milestone, first make sure that your Activities exist. Go to Organizer Dashboard > Settings > Hour Log. Add your activities in your categories box.
Next, go to Milestones > Click the "+ Add a new milestone" button to reach the milestone builder form.

You'll create your milestones one at a time. Name your first milestone and set your goal (Ex. Out of School Minimum).
For Do all activities count towards this milestone?, select No. You'll be able to choose from your list of hour log activities that appear. Select all activities that count towards this milestones. Check the boxes for any activities that you want counted towards the requirement. (Ex. Out of School).
If you need to apply your milestone to most of your activities, you can use the "select all" function, making it easier to select all and then unselect the few unwanted activities.
Please note: available options will be limited to the current categories listed under your hour log. If you need to make changes, go to Organizer Dashboard > Settings > Hour Log and update the list of your primary categories.
Set your time period if needed and click Submit.
You'll see your new milestone appear under your Active Milestones. The asterisk next to it's name means that it is conditional. Click the plus sign next to the name to view the conditional details.

Repeat this process, as needed, to create additional requirements.
Volunteer-Specific Milestones
This makes it easy for schools and organizations to differentiate between their volunteers and adjust requirements for different segments.
Example: Single Parent Families need 10 hours and Two-Parent Families need 20 hours
Set Up
To create a volunteer-specific milestone, first make sure that your profile fields exist. Go to Organizer Dashboard > Settings > Volunteers. Add your volunteer groups as a drop down field. Ex. Type of household: 1 parent | 2 parent
Next, go to Milestones > Click the "+ Add a new milestone" button to reach the milestone builder form.

You'll create your milestones one at a time. Name your first milestone and set your goal (Ex. 2 Parent Requirement).
For Does this milestone apply to all volunteers?, select No. You'll be able to choose from your list of volunteer groups based on your profile fields that appear. Check the box for the volunteer segments responsible for that requirement (Ex. 2 Parent Household).
If you need to apply your milestone to most of your volunteer types, you can use the "select all" function, making it easier to select all and then unselect the few unwanted volunteer types.
Please note: available options will be limited to the current profile fields that are dropdown fields. If you need to make changes, go to Organizer Dashboard > Settings > Volunteers and add a custom field as a dropdown.
Set your time period if needed and click Submit.
You'll see your new milestone appear under your Active Milestones. The asterisk next to it's name means that it is conditional. Click the plus sign next to the name to view the conditional details.

Repeat this process, as needed, to create additional requirements.
Non-Hourly Milestones
Not everything is about the hours, right? Some organizations need to track requirements beyond volunteer hours.
Example: Volunteers must attend 5 committee meetings each year
Set Up
To create a non-hourly milestone, first make sure that a custom numeric field exists on your hour log. Go to Organizer Dashboard > Settings > Hour Log.
Add a field if needed, label it with your non-hourly requirement counter. Ex. Meetings. And set the type to Numeric Text Field.
Next, go to Milestones > Click the "+ Add a new milestone" button to reach the milestone builder form.

Name your milestone and set your goal (Ex. Required Meeting Attendance).
Under What do you want to track? select your new numeric field from the drop down menu.
Please note: available options will be limited to current numeric hour log fields. If you need to make changes, go to Organizer Dashboard > Settings > Hour Log and add a numeric text field to your site.
Set your time period if needed and click Submit.
You'll see your new milestone appear under your Active Milestones. Under the Goal section, you will see that your milestone is counting your custom numeric field instead of Hours.

Repeat this process, as needed, to create additional requirements.
